The Director i/c, Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam informs interested candidates, who are citizens of India and fulfill the prescribed eligibility norms as mentioned below against each category of purely temporary assignments related to Assam Manuscripts Mission, tentatively for 2 months on contractual basis with a fixed remuneration, to appear in a walk-in-interview to be held on 21st November, 2025 at 11 A.M.at the Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Near Meghdoot Bhawan, Panbazar, Guwahati-01, Assam.

Documentation & Conservation Expert | Master’s Degree in History /Sanskrit / Archaeology / Library & Information Science / Museology /Archival Studies/ Art History/ Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in manuscript documentation, archival work, or cultural heritage projects. Ability to read old Assamese, Sanskrit, or Tai-Ahom and other Tai scripts. | 5 | 35- 55 years | Rs 25000/- |
| 3. Field Investigator | Bachelor’s Degree in History /Sanskrit Assamese / Anthropology /Archaeology / Folklore or related disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with prior fieldwork experience in cultural documentation or community- based research with a willingness to travel extensively across rural and remote areas. |

Photographer | Bachelor’s degree or diploma in photography, Videographer, Media Production, Visual communication or related disciplines from a recognized institution with at least 2 years of professional experience in photography/ videography, preferably in cultural, heritage, or academic documentation projects
with experience in handling DSLR cameras, lighting equipment, audio gear, and post-processing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Premiere Pro, or equivalent) |

5. Assistant Conservator /Preservator |
Master’s or Diploma degree in Conservation, Preservation, Museology, Art Conservation, Heritage Studies, Chemistry, Material Science, or Library and Information Science with specialization in conservation/ preservation. Minimum 1-3 years of practical experience in the field of conservation/preservation of manuscripts, documents, or artworks. Hands-on work with palm-leaf manuscripts, sanchi-pat, paper manuscripts, and indigenous materials preferred. |

1. The applicants must be a minimum of 21 years and maximum of 60 years of age as on 01.01.2025.
2. No separate call letter will be issued to the candidates, and no TA/DA or official accommodation will be provided for appearing in the interview.
3. The assignments are totally temporary in nature and the selected candidates will be initially engaged for a tentative period of 2 (two) months only.
4. The assignment is purely on contractual basis with no provision for regularization nor will be absorbed under any job/ programme of the Government of Assam in future and no person (s) so engaged shall have any right (s) to claim for permanent absorption in any post (s) in the Government or in the Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam.
5. The candidates must bring a Curriculum Vitae/ resume and 3 copies of passport size photographs with self-attested photocopy of all the certificates, mark sheets, experience certificates etc. along with the original documents for verification.
6. The Director i/c of Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam reserves the right to cancel/ postpone the interview without assigning any reason thereof.
7. The names of the shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the departmental website and also in the office notice board of Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies. They may also be communicated through their respective Email IDs.
8. The decision of the selection committee in any matter will be final and binding
